Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School (St. Gregory), a private school located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was tired of their current outdated site and needed help. Basic requirements included a website built on a content managed system to support staff content contribution and collaboration, streamline communication between teachers and students and all with a front facing design to serve as a tool to attract prospective families. Most importantly, the site needed to be easily managed in-house and built within a very tight budget.

Key objectives:

• Replace existing CMS, Dreamweaver, with something more user-friendly
• A “Homework” page for teachers to update so that their students had easy access to their work
• Fresh new design that had a more logical structure
• Contain a 'widget’s page to showcase multiple areas of communication (lunch menu, events, student photos, etc.) in one place
• A site to serve multiple audiences (teachers, students, staff, prospective families, alumni, etc.)
• Contain a multimedia gallery to showcase photos and videos

Web Teks implemented Elcom’s CommunityManager.NET Content Management System, a modular based CMS solution well suited to St. Gregory’s need for intuitive, in-house management and staff collaboration. Web Teks worked closely with the Information Technology (IT) department at St. Gregory’s to deliver an exceptional, unique and completely customized solution. CommunityManager.NET modules added to the Core functionality included calendar and form creator.

A new website to better communicate the school’s mission was developed to support the requirements and limited resources of St. Gregory’s IT department. The customized content management system enables St. Gregory to enjoy increased capability to upload, manage and edit content and images. And, the new design hit the mark by providing a more intuitive navigation and user experience.
